Exploring Business Opportunities in the Broadcast and Video Entertainment Content Landscape

10 May 2016 - Following the highly successful New Content Horizons event in London, leading market analyst firm Futuresource Consulting and key entertainment industry innovators and influencers are about to set to the stage at The London in Los Angeles, West Hollywood, this week, on the afternoon of May 12th 2016.

The event will explore the business opportunities within the home entertainment and broadcast sectors, discussing the importance of content, cutting edge services, platforms, hardware, as well as technologies, to project a collective vision of the future digital entertainment landscape.

Keynote speaker George Barrios, WWE, will kick the proceedings off by sharing his experiences of the WWE network, discussing the growth of online service providers, and highlighted the importance of clear strategies for success in OTT and linear markets.

The New Content Horizons agenda will cover all that is trending at the cutting edge of entertainment technology and content, with the afternoon consisting of an eclectic mix of lively panel sessions, latest industry data and presentations. The topics will include; how robust is Pay-TV against the challenge of OTT, sponsored by Vubiquity. 

Delegates will then get the insider scoop from Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox and Broad Green Pictures about the Hollywood studio challenge, posed by new services and platforms.

Twitch will then take center stage to discuss premium sports of a different kind, looking at the increasing popularity and growth of the E-sports sector. The future of premium sports is the next topic on the table, involving industry experts from Omnigon, Turner Sports, Twitch and EverSport Media. 

Next up is the growing importance of user generated content and social video moderated by Cliff Fluet of Lewis Silkin LLP, discussing the monetization of content and talent through social and discovery, with senior executives from Gleam Futures, Jukin Media and Rightster.

Industry experts from Samsung, MediaTek, DTS and UHD Alliance will then share their thoughts regarding the status, market drivers and challenges of 4K and UHD video adoption in the end to end broadcast chain. 

The last two sessions will be about virtual and mixed reality. 2016 can be seen as the year VR actually became a reality. This first session will explore the early innovations in the sector, executives from Next VR, Google, Intel, Littlstar and Virtually Live will review the applications that work and assess the monetisation opportunities that this exciting segment offers. Finally Rikard Steiber, SVP of Virtual Reality at HTC will share the programs that his company has introduced to drive innovation in this sector.
