Futuresource Consulting Checks the Numbers for World Health Day

This Sunday, 7th April, it’s World Health Day, which aims to raise awareness of the need to improve public health on a global scale. Here at Futuresource Consulting, we’ve been listening to what the World Health Organisation has to say about it.

The theme for this year’s World Health Day is ‘Health for All’, giving people access to healthcare without the burden of financial hardship. Studies by the World Health Organisation show that the countries which invest in universal healthcare also improve quality of life, increase life expectancy and create better paid jobs for their people through improved economic growth.

It’s common sense. When people are looked after, they’ll do better. And while the responsibility for access to healthcare should be a core focus of any government, it is equally important for thriving companies and individuals to play their part.

That got us thinking. At Futuresource we already pay attention to the health of our team members and offer private health insurance as part of our benefits package. However, rather than treating sickness or injury, we’ve also launched a series of proactive health checks and activities to increase health awareness.

Now, to coincide with World Health Day 2019, we’re offering all staff regular medical health checks, free-of-charge. Nurses will visit the Futuresource offices in St Albans twice a year and provide all staff with a ‘Know Your Numbers’ check.

This follows a recent government-led initiative to encourage people to know their cholesterol and blood pressure numbers as well as they know their bank account PIN code. It’s all too easy for people to ignore their health, and we want to do our bit to raise awareness among our staff and improve the long-term quality life of our colleagues. Our people put a lot of time and effort into Futuresource and it’s important to me that we give something back, above and beyond the monetary reward.

It’s not all about the health checks, though. We provide everyone with healthy food and drink every week as well. But we all want to be entertained too. That’s why we’ll be embarking on a series of healthy, fun-related activities, starting with the St Albans Charity Bike Ride in May 2019. Watch out for this and many more charity events from Futuresource in the coming months.

In the meantime, why don’t you let us know what you’re getting up to for World Health Day?
